other gas fired pots from January firing

January Pots

Too cold to fire with wood. Got the gas kiln up and firing last week. Have some new pots for Byrdcliffe Shop in Woodstock. Will bring them over tomorrow. They like the pots from Tony's Anagama. Nice and crunchy. Hope they also like the crawling shino pots from the gas kiln.

Made the Move

Just left my apartment of 41 years in Manhattan to come up to the Hudson Valley FULL TIME. Enjoyed making and selling and showing my pottery this year. Lots of new plans for 2011. Thinking of building a studio.

Hope you all have a Happy Holiday and a very Healthy and Prosperous New Year.

New Gallery Open just north of New Paltz.

The Butterfield Pottery and New Prospect Pottery have opened a gallery exhibiting functional hand made wood fired pottery. Much is salt glazed, a classical approach to glazing stoneware and porcelain. Some pots are fired in a Japanese style 2 chamber kiln that results in a totally different "look".

Come by:
